GIOACCHINO ROSSINI : THE BARBER OF SEVILLE
To commemorate the 150th anniversary of Rossini's death, the Beaune festival offers, after Italiana in Algeri, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, his most famous opera, directed by Jérémie Rhorer at the head of his orchestra Le Cercle de l 'Harmonie, on period instruments. Il Barbiere di Siviglia, from the famous comedy of Beaumarchais (The Barber of Seville or the Useless Precaution), is his most popular opera buffa, including its famous opening, but also by the famous virtuosic tunes sung by the main protagonists: Almaviva (Ecco ridente in cielo), Rosina (Una voce poco fa), Figaro (Largo al factotum) or Basilio (La calunnia è un venticello). The book tells that in Seville, the young Rosina is held recluse by her guardian, the old doctor Bartolo, who has decided to marry her to keep his dowry. But Rosina fell in love with the young Count Almaviva who, with the help of Figaro, will try everything to approach his beloved ... We gathered for this new production the magnificent performers are Margarita Gritskova, Matthew Newlin, Luigi De Donato, Riccardo Novaro and Vittorio Prato, who sing this Barber on the biggest international stages.
