THE CENTER OF VOCAL ART AND OLD MUSIC: A VOCAL ENSEMBLE, TWO ORCHESTRAS AND A FESTIVAL
The Centre for Vocal Art and Ancient Music (Centre d’Art Vocal et de Musique Ancienne, CAV&MA) was created in 1984. First and foremost, the CAV&MA is active in promoting music, thanks to its ensembles that have, over the years, gone from strength to strength: the Chamber Choir of Namur, the baroque orchestra Les Agrémens, and the Millenium Orchestra.
The CAV&MA is also committed to training young singers and instrumentalists in the practices of Ancient Music.
Furthermore, the CAV&MA is in charge of the artistic direction of the Music Festival of Namur (a part of the Festival of Wallonia), which puts on a series of high quality concerts in July every year, in exceptional locations around the old town.
The CAV&MA is funded by the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles (DG Culture, Music department), the City of Namur, the Province of Namur and the Belgian National Lottery.
