Bach : Mass in B minor, BWV 232
Bach intermittently worked on his Mass in B minor for more than 25 years.
It is a conceptual and purely spiritual mass of gigantic dimensions, thought as the crowning of a life dedicated to sacred music.
The Mass in B minor is essentially composed of an assemblage of various pages drawn from various previous works of the composer and rewritten by him according to the process known as parody (in the old sense of the term: "text composed to be sung on a known music ").
The structuring of the Mass is therefore a challenge due to the meeting of tunes composed more than thirty years apart, for different vocal and instrumental works, in different languages.
Challenge easily met by Leonardo García Alarcón and his ensembles Cappella Mediterranea and the Chamber Choir of Namur.
