Musiczl direction : Jérémie Rohrer
After having directed, Idomeneo, Les Noces de Figaro, Così fan tutte, Don Giovanni, with the phenomenal success that we know, Jérémie Rhorer offers us, in Beaune, La Flûte enchantée, the most popular opera that Mozart , as an unequaled magician, composed on a masterful libretto by his friend Schikaneder, librettist but also initiator of the role of Papageno. Created two months before his death, the Magic Flute is a fairy tale whose subject is the elevation by wisdom, love and goodness of the human being to a higher morality corresponding to the ideas of the Age of Enlightenment, the 'Aufklärung of rationalism. Tamino, a young prince, and Papageno, a birding companion, take us in search of Pamina, daughter of the Queen of the Night, kidnapped by the mage Sarastro who keeps her prisoner. Thanks to a magic flute and a magic chime, Tamino and Papageno find Pamina again. The Magic Flute met with real triumph from its creation and soon conquered all stages of the world, When Mozart left one world to enter another: the music of the Magic Flute marked the start of the 19th century. Finally, Anne Blanchard brought together a set of dream soloists with in the title roles Matthew Newlin as Tamino, Mari Eriksmoen as Pamina, Sarah Traubel as Queen of the Night (who made her French debut in Beaune) or Riccardo Novaro in Papageno and in the other roles of prodigious young talents.
